Cheddar, the livestreaming financial news platform led by former BuzzFeed executive Jon Steinberg, has announced a deal to integrate its programming service into Altice’s i24News platform.
Starting today with live coverage of the iPhone 8 launch from the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, Cheddar will supply i24News with live news reporting, interviews and field packages.
“Altice and Cheddar share the same vision for finding innovative and differentiated ways to deliver the best news content to connect people to the world around them,” said Altice USA Co-President and CFO Charlie Stewart in a statement. “We’re pleased with the initial feedback of our News 12 collaboration with Cheddar, so it seemed natural to extend our partnership to Altice’s global news network i24News.”
Altice expanded its four-year-old 24-hour cable news brand to the U.S. in February, opening up a New York City headquarters and a bureau in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, i24News has its global headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Founded in 2016, Cheddar has raised $32 million in private funding, some of it coming from Altice.
“We are going to bring the big global tech and media stories to their coverage, and of course, we love our partner Altice, and are thrilled to expand our partnership with them to deliver Cheddar in more ways to their Optimum and Suddenlink customers,” Jon Steinberg, founder and CEO of Cheddar, in as statement.
