Billing system vendor Amdocs today launched a product suite that cable operators and satellite TV providers may be able to use to sell online video services to subscribers.
In addition to supporting monetization for over-the-top video, Amdocs said its new CES 9 Suite supports self-service transactions from subscribers. Amdocs didn't announce deployments for CES 9, but executives at Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA), one of its biggest customers, said last August that the MSO expected to log more than 1 billion self-service transactions from subscribers in 2012. Amdocs also supplies a billing system to DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV).
"While CES 9 incorporates an array of the most advanced and powerful technologies we've ever offered, everything is focused on the goal of ensuring a simple, intuitive and delightful experience for the end user," Rebecca Prudhomme, Amdocs VP of product and solutions marketing, said in a prepared statement.
