Amdocs signs up Dish for MDU project, joins Comcast SD-WAN beta test

Amdocs

Pay-TV software and services vendor Amdocs touted new MDU business with Dish Network and its inclusion in Comcast SD-WAN beta tests during its fiscal third-quarter earnings call last week.

According to Amdocs, Dish will deploy version 10 of the vendor’s customer experience solutions (CES) software suite as the satellite operator’s commercial division builds out multidwelling unit (MDU) projects.

“Business-to-business is a sweet spot for all customers. This new win with Dish is around the commercial B2B customers,” said Eli Gelman, president and CEO of Chesterfield, Missouri-based Amdocs. (The comments came courtesy of a Seeking Alpha transcript of the earnings event.)

“It’s a very important project,” he added. “This is a full-spec CES 10. We are talking about commercial business customers, which are very important. These are the lucrative customers.”

Gelman also touted new business with Comcast.

“We are also delighted to be supporting Comcast beta test in its new SD-WAN, service-defined wide area network solution, for midmarket and enterprise customers that was announced in May,” he said. “This is an important NFV use case deployed by Comcast and provides an encouraging sign that NFV is just as relevant for the world's largest MSOs as it is for wireless and wireline operators.”

Amdocs reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $967 million, in line with Wall Street guidance of $945 million to $985 million.
