Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) hired NFL legend Joe Namath and his daughter Jessica Namath to star in a 60-second commercial for its new OMGFAST wireless broadband service in Florida.

Signing Namath, the former New York Jets quarterback, marks the biggest marketing effort yet for OMGFAST, a fixed wireless broadband service that uses MVDDS spectrum that Cablevision subsidiary DTV Norwich acquired from an FCC auction in 2004. The service, which offers speeds up to 50 Mbps, competes with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and other cable operators in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

"OMGFAST brings peak performance to every device you have," Namath, who shot dozens of TV commercials for marketers after he retired from the NFL, says in the ad. The commercial also touts the ability to access content from Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and other online video providers.

"Remember dad, OMG delivers up to 50 megabits per second. It's like a Joe Namath pass," Jessica Namath says in the commercial.

OMGFAST kicked off a promotion last month in which it is offering subscribers the ability to lease an Apple TV set-top for $5 monthly.
