Andrew Ip will oversee introduction, development and commercialization of new customer-focused technologies.

Charter Communications has hired former Cablevision executive Andrew Ip to the position of senior VP, emerging technology and innovation.

In his new Denver-based gig, Ip will oversee introduction, development and commercialization of new customer-focused technologies.

He’ll report to Jim Blackley, executive VP of engineering and IT.

“Andrew brings a wealth of technical expertise and a unique vision that will enable Charter to further drive the adoption and roll-out of emerging technologies,” Blackley said in a statement.

Ip most recently served as senior VP and managing director of Madison Square Garden Ventures. Prior to that, he served other roles in the Dolan-backed corporate empire, spending five years at Cablevision, where he led the development of Wi-Fi and HFC networks while leading the Optimum Labs Group.
