Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) struck a deal with Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) to add the company's WebEx videoconferencing product to the Upware portal that it launched earlier this year for commercial customers.
The MSO has been marketing access to cloud-based backup services such as Carbonite and Mozy through Upware, which debuted in February. It also includes document-sharing service YouSendIt, online storage service Box, file sharing service Soonr, data backup service DigitalSafe and Norton and Websense online security products.
Comcast said it hopes to attract small and mid-sized business customers by adding Cisco's WebEx Meeting Center to the portal. The videoconferencing solution "puts a premier collaboration tool in the hands of SMBs and allows them to benefit from the same technology that large corporations do," Comcast Business SVP Kevin O'Toole said in Thursday's announcement.
