Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH) recruited former Procter & Gamble executive James Moorhead, naming him senior vice president and chief marketing officer. The company said Moorhead succeeds interim CMO Vivek Khemka, who will return to its product management division.
Dish, which unveiled a new multiroom DVR product called Hopper earlier this year, has said that it will increase its marketing spending in an effort to lure subscribers from DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV), Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) and other pay TV providers.
Moorhead will report to Dish CEO Joseph Clayton. "Dish is committed to building a premier brand in the industry. James has the marketing experience, the energy and, most importantly, the imagination to help lead our commercial transformation," Clayton said in Wednesday's announcement.
At P&G, Moorhead led marketing strategy for its Gillette division, including the Old Spice brand, which gained recognition with several humorous TV ads. Look for Moorhead to run similar humorous spots at Dish.
