Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) said it signed a broad distribution deal with AT&T (NYSE: T) which will allow its U-verse TV subscribers to access WatchESPN and mobile video apps it has developed for ABC, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior.
The agreement is similar to pacts Disney has signed in recent months with Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR), Cox Communications and Cablevision (NYSE: CVC). AT&T said it will launch new Disney products such as ESPN 3D, ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater. In addition to ESPN, Disney Channel and other linear networks, the carriage deal includes video-on-demand content from ABC Family and ABC.
AT&T also announced Tuesday that it is adding Mexican movie channels Cine Estelar and Cine Nostalgia to its U-verse TV U-Latino and Paquete Espanol programming packages.
