Synacor struck a deal with casual game producer Zynga that could allow Synacor customers such as Cable One and Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) to add Words With Friends, FarmVille2 and other games to their TV Everywhere online video portals.
Pay TV providers may be able to use the casual games as a subscriber acquisition tool. Synacor said that distributors could include in-game currency that can unlock features in Zynga games as part of their monthly triple-play subscriptions. No operators have signed up yet for the Zynga games offering.
Zynga is best known for supplying its social games to Facebook users.
