With Time Warner Cable's (NYSE: TWC) blackout of CBS Corp. (NYSE: CBS) TV stations in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas approaching the one-week mark, the MSO said Thursday that subscribers who want to watch pre-season football games should turn to NFL Network.
It noted that NFL Network will replay games CBS plans to cover this weekend, including the New York Jets – Detroit Lions game and the Dallas Cowboys – Oakland Raiders games. The network, which TWC carries on expanded basic, will also cover the Patriots – Eagles and Steelers – Giants games.
TWC also noted that there are alternatives to CBS's golf coverage, including online coverage thorough PGA.com.
Meanwhile, CBS EVP Marty Franks ripped the nation's second-largest MSO in testimony he gave at a New York City Council hearing Thursday, insisting TWC is refusing to negotiate a fair deal. "We need Time Warner Cable to come to the table in good faith and to do the hard work necessary to reach a mutually beneficial agreement for both companies and the audiences we share," Franks said in prepared testimony provided by CBS.
