AT&T (NYSE: T) said it picked up 198,000 U-verse TV and 613,000 U-verse broadband subscribers in the third quarter, with revenue from its U-verse business jumping 38 percent compared to this time last year.

The telco said the average U-verse home spent $170 each month on cable, Internet and phone service, and that penetration for U-verse TV hit 18 percent of homes passed at the end of the quarter. It now counts 7.4 million U-verse TV and Internet subscribers.
AT&T said it is seeing more success selling faster broadband tiers, with 54 percent of its U-verse Internet customers taking a plan offering speeds of 12 Mpbs or higher, compared to 43 percent in the third quarter of 2011.
AT&T generated $31.5 billion in revenue in Q3, including revenue from its wireless business. Revenue was flat compared to last year. It posted $3.6 billion in net income (63 cents per share, up 2 cents compared to Q3 2011).
