In a somewhat rare bit of transparency from a virtual MVPD regarding subscriber numbers, FuboTV said it has now amassed more than 100,000 subscribers for its livestreaming TV service.

The service said it passed up the mark as of September and that it is anticipating the next 100,000 won’t take as long to get. FuboTV originally launched in 2015 at a soccer streaming service before transitioning to a more full-fledged live TV offering.

"We are pleased to have surpassed the symbolic 100,000-subscriber milestone so quickly—following investments in national and regional sports networks, and the infrastructure to support this expanded array of premium content," said fuboTV cofounder and CEO David Gandler in a statement. "Given macro tailwinds driven by a fundamental change in consumer behavior, we anticipate the next 100,000 subscribers to join FuboTV at an accelerating pace."

FuboTV, which recently exited beta and rolled out new features for its Apple TV app, has been busy adding programming deals and local network TV affiliates to its service as it keeps pace with vMVPD rivals like Sling TV and DirecTV Now.

Over the past year, FuboTV has struck distribution deals with CBS, MSG Networks, Scripps Networks Interactive, the NFL Network, Pac-12 Network and Fusion TV.

In the past few months, the service also landed another $55 million from venture capital fund Northzone as well as 21st Century Fox, Sky and Scripps Networks Interactive.

“Closing this latest round of funding is testament to our ability to execute efficiently in a very competitive market, and to our investors’ acute understanding of the future of our industry. Long term, we are best positioned to drive value for all major media companies and consumers in the U.S. and abroad,” said Gandler in a statement.
