3D Yule Log returns to Comcast
Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) plans to offer its Xfinity TV subscribers access to a 3D Yule Log for a second consecutive year through its video-on-demand platform. The cable MSO is also letting subscribers watch the Yule Log burn online at XfinityTV.com.
New York City TV station WPIX-TV first debuted the Yule Log in 1966. The video of a roaring fire accompanied by Christmas music became a hit, and has since been replicated by other networks and pay TV distributors such as Comcast.
Comcast is also offering on-demand access to the Yule Log in standard-definition and high-definition.
The cable MSO is distributing more than 100 popular holiday movies through its Xfinity On Demand and XfinityTV.com platforms, including Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Miracle on 34th Street (both the 1947 and 1994 version), The Santa Clause, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and other holiday hits like A Charlie Brown Christmas (available 12/16).
