An American Cable Association-backed study that showed a Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA)-NBC Universal merger would cost consumers $2.4 billion is off base, inaccurate, and generally a lot of hooey, according to Comcast.

Comcast, instead, presented its own experts to show that the deal would, in fact, save consumers $290 million and that the ACA's study, written by former FCC economist William Rogerson, "should be given no weight."

The ACA, via its president Matt Polka, of course dissed the Comcast response as "again revising its arguments for why this deal is not harmful to the American consumer."
