Another one bites the dust; Commisso takes Mediacom private

Yet another cable operator has left the public company rolls. Mediacom Communications shareholders, at a private meeting, acceded to an offer by founder-CEO Rocco Commisso and will no longer be publicly traded.

"Our management team and fellow employees can now focus full time on delivering the best experience to our customers ... as we enter a new chapter in our history," Commisso said.

The company was private until 2000; now, 11 years later, it's moved back into the private shadows, joining, among others, Cox Communications.
