The roiling and converging Chinese cable market, seen by many in the U.S. as the next big palate on which to paint a new telecommunications picture, tightened up a bit as telecom software solutions and IT services provider AsiaInfo Holdings acquired a majority stake in Hangzhou Zhongbo Software Telecom Com Ltd., which provides software and IT solutions for the cable industry in China.

This marks AsiaInfo's entry into the Chinese cable market via a company that provides Business Support Systems (BSS), digital television operation support and customer relationship management systems for more than 20 cable operators in China.
