Baldwin Telecom has applied for a statewide franchise so it can offer cable television service to selected business and residential customers in Hudson, Wis. The telco has no plans for a statewide--or even citywide--services rollout and general manager Larry Knegendorf said that only the areas in and around St. Croix business park would get access. Customers in those areas have been getting high-speed Internet and phone service for "a couple of years" and asked for cable TV.

"We won't build the whole city," he said honestly. "As we go into different areas we will provide cable TV as well as high-speed Internet and phone service. We would be glad to hook up lots of people in that industrial park."

It is apparently the new wave of convergence.
