Boston station uses Super Bowl to squeeze DirecTV
With a little more than three weeks remaining before kickoff of Super Bowl 46, Sunbeam Television is using its distribution of the game on Boston NBC affiliate WHDH-TV to squeeze increased retransmission-consent fees from DirecTV. Sunbeam, which pulled the signals of its stations in Boston and Miami from DirecTV on Jan. 13, notes that it has already reached deals with Comcast and other distributors.
