Motorola has consolidated its four major business units into two divisions as it continues to move toward formally splitting into two companies early next year, paperwork filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission indicates.

The new mobile devices division, under CEO Sanjay Kha, now co-chief executive of Motorola, will include cell phones and other consumer-related mobile devices and cable TV set-top boxes and other related cable equipment.

The second company will include enterprise mobility and networks businesses with such products as two-way radios and other business-related products. Gregory Brown, Moto's other co-CEO, will run this company as CEO.
