Bright House targets cloud business services with Telovations acquisition
Bright House Networks struck a deal today to buy cloud communications provider Telovations, which the company says will help it market hosted voice solutions and unified communications services to small and medium-sized businesses.
Bright House didn't say how much it will pay to acquire Telovations, which is based in Tampa, Fla., where the MSO operates cable systems, but said the Telovations team will report to SVP of network engineering and operations Craig Cowden, and that the deal is expected to close within 45 to 60 days.
Bright House isn't the only cable MSO using acquisitions to provide commercial customers with cloud services. Last year, Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) bought cloud technology provider NaviSite for about $230 million.
