Cable Show provides time, space for technical issues

Advancement in network architectures and the emergence of new video delivery approaches and their impact on cable are on tap during the multi-day Spring Technical Forum at The Cable Show this year, scheduled for June 14-16 in Chicago--an example of the industry's move toward aggregating multiple gatherings into a few shows in order to reach a bigger technical audience.

The forum, sponsored by NCTA, SCTE and CableLabs, proposes to offer "a strategic view of cable's technology future from the industry's chief technical leadership," according to a news release.

The industry has taken steps to roll its multiple gatherings together to serve diverse audiences. For instance, the Spring Technical Forum is incorporating what used to be the SCTE Emerging Technologies (ET) conference held in winter or early spring.
