Cable stocks hit as Dow plunges again
Stocks in publicly traded cable companies and technology vendors were pounded Thursday, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged nearly 500 points amid concerns about the world economy.
By 11:15 a.m. ET, Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) was trading at $17.60, down 5.7 percent, while Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) had dropped 3.4 percent to $20.30. Charter (Nasdaq: CHTR) was down 3.7 percent to $45.65, while Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) dropped 3 percent to $63.03.
Top cable hardware provider Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) was also hit, dropping 4.6 percent to $15.12. TiVo (Nasdaq: TIVO) was trading at $8.21, down 4.4 percent.
