Cablevision clarifies ads that tweak FiOS Internet speeds

Just weeks after Verizon (NYSE: VZ) stopped running ads that mocked the speeds of Cablevision's (NYSE: CVC) Optimum Online service, the cable MSO has agreed to pull ads that it had created that took shots at the speed of the telco's FiOS Internet product.

Cablevision, which had boasted in a recent ad campaign that its cable modem service offers speeds that were "3X faster than FiOS," agreed to stop running the ads after it was criticized by the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. The group noted that Cablevision was comparing its 50 Mbps wideband service to the 15 Mpbs service that Verizon offers for its entry level tier.
