Montemagno succeeds E. McRae "Mac" Budill as Cablevision's head of programming. Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) named Budill president of NBCUniversal TV Networks Distribution last month.

Cablevision said that Montemagno, who had been SVP of programming acquisitions, will lead its negotiations with cable and broadcast networks, and will be responsible for securing linear, video-on-demand and out-of-home authenticated programming.

"Tom has made an enormous contribution to Cablevision over more than two decades and has clearly established himself as a leader on our executive team and a leader in the industry," Cablevision CEO Jim Dolan said in a statement.  "His ability to work with programmers to reach the increasingly complicated agreements that continue to shape and define our core video product is well established and has been an invaluable asset to Cablevision," he added.
