Cablevision trademarks THE O TEAM for concierge service

Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) may be developing a high-end customer service program called THE O TEAM, according to a trademark application it filed last week.

The MSO would like to use THE O TEAM brand for "customer services, namely, concierge services for installing and following up with customers for cable and digital television, phone and Internet [service]," Cablevision wrote in the trademark application, which was filed on March 7 at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Cablevision uses the Optimum brand to market its digital cable, high-speed Internet and voice products.

With cable operators and satellite TV providers relying more on automated interactive voice response systems installed at customer service centers to handle calls from subscribers, some providers are beginning to offer concierge services to their highest paying subscribers.

Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) launched a $200 monthly SignatureHome service in 2010, which includes a 24-hour "white glove" customer service line.

Cablevision officials didn't respond to a request for comment about the trademark filing on Tuesday.
