Canoe Ventures, the interactive advertising joint venture owned by the six largest cable TV operators, announced that CEO David Verklin is stepping down after three years in charge. Verklin had led Canoe since its inception, which was celebrated with great fanfare just before the interactive advertising movement began to lag amid controversy and service launch delays.

Current Canoe COO Kathy Timko is taking over as interim CEO, and with a footprint of 20 million homes, Canoe reassured the industry that Verklin's departure is not a bad omen.
