CAT Telecom using Digital Rapids for multiscreen video
Thailand's CAT Telecom Public Co. Ltd. is using equipment from Digital Rapids to "transform content for live and on-demand delivery" through a new "e-Entertainment IPTV and multiscreen video service," the two companies said in a press release.
The Digital Rapids encoders transform source video into multiple simultaneous outputs for IPTV multicast, OTT delivery to set-top boxes and mobile and Web streaming. In CAT's case, the technology will be used to implement an e-Entertainment service that gives content providers a platform to create and deliver material to viewers across a broad range of IP-based platforms.
The Digital Rapids gear provides "a flexible solution for CAT's entertainment applications, enabling the most efficient and dynamic use of both 'traditional' IPTV and OTT networks," Wongthep Silapawetin, vice president of systems integrator Digital Media Interface, said in the press release.
Digital Rapids said its encoders can power applications that range from online and mobile video to OTT and IPTV via "rich output capabilities and adaptive streaming support."
These capabilities "are ideal for engaging audiences across the broadest range of viewing platforms, and CAT"s use of our systems for their e-Entertainment offering is an excellent example of the multiscreen versatility and efficiency we bring to content owners and service providers," said Clive Vickery, managing director of EMEA and Asia at Digital Rapids.
