Ever-evolving Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) has added carrier interconnect capabilities in five U.S. locations--Los Angeles (two sites), Atlanta, St. Louis, Mo. and Worcester, Mass.--as part of a strategic focus "on the carrier market," said Jim McGann, senior vice president of Charter Business.

The new capabilities enable Charter to offer Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-certified carrier Ethernet services that range from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps.

Charter has also entered into agreements with the Carrier Ethernet Exchange to "enable new, flexible options for wholesale Ethernet access," a Charter news release said.
