Charter gobbles up 16,000 Missouri subscribers from US Cable

Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR), which reportedly has looked at and passed on acquiring Insight Communications, has completed a smaller deal with US Cable of Coastal Texas to add 16,000 Missouri cable subscribers. The subs, served by US Cable Systems in Hannibal, Moberly and Mexico, Mo., "have a strong geographic link with other communities Charter is serving in the state."

US Cable, for those who don't recognize the name, is "a partnership between Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) and private investors led by Stephen E. Myers. In addition to the subscribers it sold to Charter, the MSO has customers in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico.

The deal is full of the synergies that corporations like to tout. St. Louis-based Charter already serves 25 counties in the state as part of the 5 million homes it serves in 25 states nationwide.
