It's hardly on a scale with AT&T buying T-Mobile, but the ever-evolving Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) has quietly acquired three cable systems serving about 17,000 customers in Alabama and Georgia.

The systems, owned by Windjammer Communications, already offer digital video, high-speed Internet and phone service--matching Charter's ongoing push for triple play bundles--and will be integrated with nearby Charter franchises. The MSO did not name a price it would pay for the businesses.
