Following a trial it conducted with subscribers in Fort Worth, Charter Communications (Nasdaq: CHTR) said it is deploying TiVo's (Nasdaq: TIVO) Premiere DVR and whole home solution to customers throughout Texas.

The Charter rollout marks one of the largest MSO deployments to date for TiVo, which also saw DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) deploy a line of TiVo branded DVRs to its subscribers this week. Several other cable MSOs are deploying TiVo's Premiere DVR, which integrates Web applications, live TV and video-on-demand content, including RCN and Suddenlink Communications.

Charter subscribers can use Premiere's integrated search function to search for titles available on TV, VoD and the Web. It also offers remote scheduling from the Web and mobile devices, and lets subscribers use TiVoToGo to transfer some programs from the DVR to laptops, mobile phones and other devices. Marketing TiVo's high-end Premiere DVR to subscribers could help Charter compete with AT&T's (NYSE: T) U-verse TV and other competitors in Texas.
