Charter Communications' (Nasdaq: CHTR) Charter Business unit has deployed a long-haul Ethernet service that expands the reach of its commercial offerings beyond metro areas to enterprise and carrier customers within the MSO's network footprint.

The new deployment fits well into Charter's coverage area across the country's heartland where larger enterprises have located branch offices and "our powerful network enables enterprise customers in these locations to harness the power of our fiber network, providing carrier-grade, high-capacity service to towns that others can't reach," Scott Fairchild, product management director said in a news release.

The Layer 3 VPN, with a WAN option, "enables medium-size to large companies with multiple sites to seamlessly integrate their networks into a single WAN, either at Layer 2 or Layer 3," he added.
