Cogeco closes Atlantic Broadband acquisition

Canadian MSO Cogeco Cable said Friday that it completed its acquisition of Alantic Broadband, picking up cable systems counting about 251,000 subscribers in Western Pennsylvania, Southern Florida, Maryland, Delaware and South Carolina.

Atlantic has lost about 1,000 customers since the deal was announced in July.

The deal marks Cogeco's first acquisition of a U.S. cable system. "There are sizable opportunities for growth, including increasing the penetration of the small and mid-sized business segment and maximizing the bundling potential of services in the residential sector," Cogeco CEO Louis Audet said in a statement.

Atlantic Broadband co-founder Ed Holleran will continue to lead its U.S. operations as CEO, Audet said.
