Comcast finally announces what everyone knew: it's offering whole-home DVR

Comcast has officially lifted the cone of silence from its launch of what it calls AnyRoom DVR with a news release stating that it's launching new features to its DVR service in Oregon and Southwest Washington State.

The new services, which provide "significant value and convenience" for subscribers are part of the previous launch of Xfinity TV, the company said in a news release.

But wait, there's more. AnyRoom DVR isn't limited to the Pacific Northwest. A Comcast spokeswoman, after some prodding, said it's also live "in about 19 other markets, including Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tenn.; Augusta, Ga.; Little Rock, Ark.; Mobile, Ala.; western Massachusetts; southern Florida; and the Bay Area," according to Light Reading Cable.

Smart money also says some version is available in Comcast's home Philadelphia markets as well; at least that's the message some subscribers have received from the company on their set-tops.

Digging further into Comcast, another report says that the MSO has started to roll out a "HomePoint service that combines VoIP and Internet services in a single router."
