Comcast to shop triple play at 'Xfinity Live' entertainment complex

In one of its biggest efforts yet to market its Xfinity line of products to consumers through retail outlets, Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) plans to open a 60,000 square foot "Xfinity Live" entertainment complex in April in Philadelphia.

Comcast offered an artist's rendering of the "Xfinity Live" entertainment complex.

In addition to shops and restaurants, the venue will market Comcast products through several outlets, including the Xfinity On Demand Theater--a 24-foot-wide outdoor video board. It will also feature an "NBC Sports Field"--a 300-foot artificial turf field.

Officials at Comcast, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, said the complex will create 750 jobs for the city. It is scheduled to open on April 5. The expanded retail presence could help Comcast compete with rivals RCN (Nasdaq: RCNI) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) in Philadelphia.
