Consortium of rivals aims to neutralize net neutrality threats

A politically volatile, therefore valuable, coalition called the Broadband Internet Technical Advisory Group (BITAG) should help cool down some of the rhetoric and threats of net neutrality.

The group includes less-than-bosom-buddies AT&T, Google, Comcast, Verizon and Microsoft who, without turning their backs on each other, plan to plow ahead to "develop consensus on broadband network management practices or other related technical issues that can affect users' Internet experience."

It could all be a ploy to forestall federal oversight of the Internet, but that doesn't seem to be the case since there seems to be little chance of any kind of regulation during this election year.
