Conspiracy theorists seemingly lurk behind any government movement, but it's unusual to find them suggesting that the government itself is the victim of a conspiracy.

Comments by FCC Commissioner Michael Copps have led some to believe that the country and its appointed officials are under fire from "well funded lobbying groups that might drown out the voices of ordinary citizens" and stifle the development of a national broadband plan that would deliver unparalleled speeds to every American by 2020.

"If that happens the Internet will end up just like cable," concluded Nick Farrell, writing for The Inquirer (not to be confused with the Philadelphia Inquirer). Farrell's item, incidentally, is headlined: "Dark forces are conspiring against net neutrality."
