Ten weeks after ActiveVideo won a $115 million judgment in a patent infringement suit it had filed against Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ), a court ordered the telco to pay the interactive TV vendor an additional $24.2 million in damages.

According to the ruling from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Verizon must pay ActiveVideo supplemental damages of $17.4 million for infringing ActiveVideo's interactive TV patents from April to Aug. 2. That period covers the weeks leading up to the Aug. 2 jury verdict. The court also ordered Verizon to pay $6.69 million in prejudgment interest.

Officials at Verizon, which is appealing the August verdict, declined to comment on the latest ruling on damages in the case.

The rulings provide a big boost to ActiveVideo, and could give it leverage to license its interactive TV platform to other pay TV distributors. Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) is ActiveVideo's biggest customer.
