Cox expanding hotel Wi-Fi service to cable systems nationwide
Cox Communications said it will soon expand the Hospitality Wi-Fi service it offers hotels to its cable systems nationwide.
The MSO said Tuesday that it will complete the expansion of the Wi-Fi service later this summer. Cox said its commercial division counts about 2,000 hospitality customers, including hotels in Las Vegas. It offers Internet, cable TV and voice service to more than 250,000 guest rooms.
Cox announced the Wi-Fi expansion at the Hospitality Financial & Technology HITEC conference in Minneapolis, where rival Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH) on Monday unveiled a new high-definition SMARTbox solution designed for hotel customers.
Cox said its hospitality Internet service uses Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) Service Provider Wi-Fi solution and a customer service line available 24 hours a day.
