Level 3 Communications (Nasdaq: LVLT) has been a thorn in the side of one giant cable TV operator, but that hasn't hampered its ability to work with others in the sector. The transport network operator just penned a new deal with longtime partner Cox Communications.

The cable TV firm will buy IP and transport services from Level 3, as well as dark fiber capacity to support ongoing broadband network needs. The companies also have agreed on terms for interconnection and traffic exchange, and Cox will resell Level 3 services.
