Cox searching for new CTO after Hatfield resigns

Cox Communications is searching for a new chief technology officer to replace Scott Hatfield who resigned earlier this week, according to a report in Light Reading Cable, which said the resignation was a "mutual decision." Hatfield, who got the CTO title when Chris Bowick retired 18 months ago, has been temporarily replaced by Percy Kirk, senior vice president of Cox's Oklahoma region.

Also, Dallas Clement, formerly executive vice president and chief strategy and product officer will now focus strictly on strategy. He'll continue to report to President Patrick Esser but the MSO is looking for someone to lead product management.

Privately held Cox Communications is sparing on details of its activities. The MSO, however, is often a maverick within the cable fraternity, choosing its own path in the mobile wireless space rather than joining other operators in the Clearwire wireless initiative, launching the first whole-home DVR product and focusing on commercial business ahead of the pack.
