Telecommunications maverick Mark Cuban, who made a fortune selling an Internet-based media delivery system, is pretty sure it's not a viable way to make a living and that interactive television belongs on television.

In a wide-ranging debate with Avner Ronen, CEO of Internet media access provider Boxee, Cuban said people wouldn't pay enough money in enough instances to support an Internet video business case. "This a la carte model is for morons," he said during the panel session at SXSW Interactive, suggesting that tru2way, cable's interactive TV proposal is the best way to go. "Television is the future of television."

For his part, Ronen maintained the Internet is the only way to go. "If you're looking for innovation in cable you're making the wrong bet," he told Cuban.
