CWA: North American broadband speeds are lacking

A report released by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), cleverly titled "Speed Matters," has concluded that half of the U.S. broadband Internet connections are too slow.

The report compared its data with the FCC's minimum broadband standard of 4 Mbps down/1 Mbps up and found service lacking because, among other things, there are no national plans to improve speeds in areas with poor service. Among the worst offenders--or slowest areas, if you will--are Montana, Wyoming, Arkansas and Mississippi. Among the best areas, not in this country.

"We're at one-tenth of what you would get in South Korea," groused CWA policy director Debbie Goldman.
