Dish Network restores Fox, CBS affiliates in Michigan
Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH) said it struck a multi-year retransmission-consent agreement with Heritage Broadcasting which allowed it to restore distribution of Fox and CBS affiliates in Michigan.
Subscribers in Traverse, City, Mich., had gone without CBS and Fox programming since Dec. 15, after Dish's contract to carry Fox affiliate WFXQ-TV and CBS affiliate WWTV-TV expired.
"We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced during the time Dish Network and Heritage Broadcasting were in negotiations," Dish wrote on a site it had created to communicate with Michigan viewers during the dispute. "We know you value this programming and we're happy to tell you that both parties have come to an agreement that returns your local programming."
Heritage also posted a message online about its station feeds being restored to Dish subscribers, with Heritage GM Bill Kring thanking viewers for their "feedback and encouragement" during the dispute.
