Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH) is pitching subscribers a new $5 monthly Heartland Package that includes Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movie Channel, GMC TV, Pixl, RFD-TV and Rural TV.

Rural TV is the only new network that is joining the Dish lineup. The satellite TV company already distributes Hallmark, GMC TV, PixL and RFD-TV in its America's Top 250 programming package.

Dish CEO Joseph Clayton has been positioning Dish as a family friendly pay TV distributor, and has used the company's acquisition of Blockbuster to strengthen its focus on families. Last summer, Dish began offering several low-priced programming packages, including a $19.99 package that includes Animal Planet, Food Network, Nick at Nite and TV Land.

The company's new Heartland package could appeal to subscribers that order other low priced programming packages.
