Here's one you've probably missed while following the titillating and often ugly approval process Comcast is experiencing in the U.S. as it attempts to spend $31 billion or so on NBC Universal. European Union (EU) competition regulators have set a July 15 deadline to clear or prevent the proposed takeover and is looking for public comments on which way to go.

Another option, suggested by the 27-country organization, is to seek concessions. This would then add 35 working days to the process.

As in the U.S., the EU is asking for views from consumers and rivals before making a decision on the transaction. And, as in the U.S., there have been concerns about possibly higher prices for consumers as a result of the deal.
