The Federal Communications Commission could be hiring outside help to work through the intricacies of its review of Comcast's NBC Universal bid.

It's unusual but not necessarily unexpected that the FCC would seek some help reviewing what is arguably one of the larger deals ever placed before the Commission. The review, in fact, cuts across three FCC bureaus. The FCC has already extended the time to comment on the deal and is reportedly being swamped by thousands of mostly negative written replies.
