Frontier Communications (NYSE: FTR)  reported that it lost 5,900 FiOS TV subscribers during the fourth quarter, but said that it will continue to support the delivery of video programming to FiOS customers that it picked up through its acquisition of $8.6 billion in Verizon (NYSE: VZ) assets in 14 states in 2010.

The rural telco, which also resells satellite TV programming from DirecTV (Nasdaq: DTV) and Dish Network (Nasdaq: DISH), added 6,900 net additions of satellite customers during Q4. That left it with a net gain of 1,000 video customers during the quarter.

Frontier added 9,300 DSL subscribers during Q4, ending 2011 with 1.76 million broadband customers. It reported $69 million in net income during the quarter, or 7 cents per share, beating analyst forecasts for 5 cents per share.
