Speculation is growing that Hulu will move away from a pure video-on-demand service into more traditional cable-like business offering with live content in addition to its fare of archived TV episodes.

The service, which still is awaiting its fate at the hands of the newly merged Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA)-NBC Universal, is also experiencing some pains at the hands of content providers Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) and News Corp. (Nasdaq: NWSA).
