Independent cable explores 'controlling constant change' at Baltimore show

To say that Baltimore is hot right now would be both an understatement, with temperatures peaking above 100 over the weekend, and an overstatement, since the mid-Atlantic tends to get a bit mucky in mid-July. And it would be pretty clichéd to say the ongoing Independent Show, being held at the Hilton Inner Harbor through July 27, is "heating up." And yet, it is, as cable industry attendees wrestle with a concept that pretty much defines their struggle: Controlling Constant Change.

Members of the American Cable Association (ACA) and National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTA) are talking net neutrality, the National Broadband Plan, the Universal Service Fun and other issues impacting business, Multichannel News reports.

Speaking of broadband, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has until close of business today to answer Rep. John Dingell's letter, sent May 27, asking the chairman for more information on his "third way" proposal for broadband regulation. Dingell is reportedly quite frustrated by Genachowski's unresponsive stance. Sometimes he's just not that into you.
